Hello! I’m Ms. Cara and I’ve been teaching math since 2005 in Austin, TX. I graduated from Alverno College in Milwaukee, WI with a degree in mathematics and moved to Austin to start teaching and escape the winters. I have a husband, two kids and a house full of plants (tropicals are my favorite). In my almost 20 years as a certified classroom teacher, I’ve taught everything from 6th grade math to AP Statistics in public and private schools. I currently teach both middle and high school math at a private school in Austin, after many years at a public HS within Austin ISD. As a mom to both a middle schooler and high schooler and a current MS and HS math teacher, I know the problems our students are facing. My goal is to help all students feel seen and their anxieties surrounding math to be validated, while encouraging a love of math through better understanding. I have experience with not only classroom teaching, but online and hybrid instruction as well. I know I can provide a welcoming and academic environment online, allowing tutoring to be accessible to students across the country. My goal is for students to have fun and learn to LIKE MATH!! If students can learn to not fear math and be comfortable with struggling, while also strengthening those foundational math skills, then I have succeeded.
